Orchestral Composition Competition
Students are asked to submit sample scores for orchestra or large ensemble. The winning composer will be asked to write a new work for a performance by the Conservatory Orchestra conducted by Music Director Bruce Hangen, on April 18, the final Orchestra concert of the year, at Sanders Theatre.

Winner
The winning composer will be notified by Monday, October 26, and will be asked to write a new work for
orchestra.

WHAT:
bound score and set of parts; your score must include an instrumentation and title page;
for string parts provide single-sided unbound masters only

INSTRUMENTATION: 2.2.2.2 (standard doublings), 4.2.3.0, timpani, 2–4 percussion, strings
DURATION:
5–8 minutes

Wind Ensemble Composition Competition
Students are asked to submit sample scores for ensemble and a proposal for a new work for wind ensemble. The winning composer's new work will be performed by The Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble conducted by Eric Hewitt, on the first Wind Ensemble concert of the Spring semester.

2009-10 Competition Winner

This year's competition winner is Jason Huffman (MM '09), whose new work be performed with music by Gershwin and Copland on Saturday, February 6 at the Bulger Center for Performing Arts.
